In this tutorial, we will cover how to use the ‘Run Workloads’ feature.
Using ‘Run Workloads’, there is the ability to completely adjust and manage Kubernetes clusters from the Ocean dashboard, without the overhead in provisioning pods via the cluster itself.
This will allow both the infrastructure and pods provisioning to be handled by Ocean.
This feature enables the option to manage the cluster’s configuration and run operations such as the creation of workloads.
This can now be done easily via the Spotinst console and according to the full picture of your cluster provided by Ocean.
Under Actions (on the top right-hand of the console), there will be a ‘Run Workload’ option.
Clicking it will direct you to the ‘Deploy Workload’ view.
In the screen that opens, there are 2 options for running workloads:
Namespace: Drop down list of namespaces imported from the cluster by the Spotinst controller.
Type: Run workloads supports running workloads of Deployment, Daemonset, Pod
In addition to that, the other configuration sections are related to Environmental variables, Resource requests, and constraints such as ‘Node Selector’ and ‘pod affinity’.
After completing the form, click on ‘Deploy’.
Upon resource successful creation, a Log message will be received, as well as the below pop-up:
